Meet the People Behind the Experience

Dave Snowden

David John Snowden is a Welsh management consultant and researcher renowned for his transformative contributions to knowledge management and complexity science. As the creator of the Cynefin framework, he has revolutionized decision-making by providing practical tools to navigate uncertainty.

Snowden is the founder and Chief Scientific Officer of The Cynefin Company, a global leader in applying complexity theory to organizational challenges.

Starting his career at Data Sciences Ltd, Snowden later joined IBM, where he led the Knowledge and Differentiation Programme and conducted pioneering research on using storytelling to articulate tacit knowledge. In 2000, he became European Director of IBM’s Institute for Knowledge Management and founded the IBM Cynefin Centre for Organizational Complexity, where the Cynefin framework was developed.

In 2004, Snowden established Cognitive Edge (now The Cynefin Company), focusing on helping organizations thrive in complex environments. A prolific author, Snowden co-wrote the acclaimed Harvard Business Review article introducing the Cynefin framework, which won the 2008 Academy of Management’s Outstanding Practitioner-Oriented Publication award.

He has also contributed to journals like KMWorld and served as Editor-in-Chief of Emergence: Complexity and Organization.

Snowden’s work remains influential, shaping how organizations approach complexity, leadership, and decision-making, cementing his reputation as a thought leader and innovator.

Donna Glanvill

Donna leads Learning and Training at The Cynefin Company, enhancing training offerings through blended learning and technology. She holds a BA in Politics and Journalism and an MBA from the University of the Witwatersrand, with expertise in strategy, organizational development, and change. A Cognitive Edge network member for over 10 years, she applied its methods in client work.

Jules Yim

Jules joined in 2009 to support government projects in Singapore and has worked with global clients. In 2014, she helped establish the Cynefin Centre for Applied Complexity in the UK before returning to Singapore. With a background in English Linguistics and Literature, her interests include linguistics, urban planning, climate change, and the Global South.

    Once your application or registration is received, you will receive a confirmation email and a formal invoice from nxtARC.

    • Payment is required within 15 days of invoice issuance. In accordance with tax regulation, a 5% Value Added Tax (VAT) will be applied to all invoices addressed to UAE recipients.
    • We accept payment via bank transfer (details provided upon invoice).
    • Organizations sending multiple participants may request a consolidated invoice.
    • It is advisable to send back a proof of payment in order to expedite the registration process and confirm reservations.
    • Participants must ensure that associated bank charges, or equivalent, are fully covered to avoid underpayment.
    • Your spot will only be fully confirmed once payment is received.

    To ensure fairness and capacity management, the following policies apply to all confirmed registrations:

    • Full refund for cancellations made on or before August 28, 2025 (60 days prior to the event).
    • 50% refund for cancellations made between August 29 and September 28, 2025 (30–59 days prior).
    • Any requested refund will be processed within 15 days through the original payment method.
    • No refund for cancellations made after September 28, 2025 (within 30 days of the event).
    • By completing the registration process, participants acknowledge and agree to the terms outlined in this document, including the payment, cancellation, and attendance policies.
    • No substitutions are permitted once the registration is complete.

    All cancellations and changes must be submitted in writing to [email protected].

    Attendance at our workshops is limited and in high demand. To ensure fairness and effective planning, the following no-show policy applies:

    • If a registered participant does not attend the event and has not provided written notice of cancellation in accordance with our cancellation policy, the registration fee will be forfeited in full.
    • No credits, refunds, or transfers will be issued for no-shows.

    In the event that the workshop is delayed, rescheduled, or canceled due to circumstances beyond our control, including but not limited to natural disasters, government regulations, pandemics, strikes, civil unrest, death, or other acts of God or force majeure, nxtARC shall not be held liable for any costs incurred by the participant, including travel or accommodation expenses.

    If such an event occurs:

    • We will make every reasonable effort to reschedule the workshop or provide an alternative solution (e.g., virtual participation or transfer to a future session).
    • Registered participants will be notified as soon as possible.

    If rescheduling is not possible, a partial or full refund may be issued at our discretion, depending on the situation and timing.

    We appreciate your understanding as we strive to offer a high-quality, committed experience for all attendees.
